Why Communists Reject Technocracy
I wanted to do a post about why Technocrats choose their ideology over traditional communism (Marxism-Leninism and its derivatives Maoism, Trotskyism, etc.) and what I realized is that I had it backwards. Technocrats (At least those following Howardism) would not reject the Communist system because it is a lot more progressive than what we live under now. However, Communists see Howard-Scott’s technocratic system as misaligned to their goals because the idea of expert governance and technical expertise being a prerequisite to political power is awkward for the rural proletariat who may not even have basic education or understanding of the world since the society has systematically deprived them of these things. The Technocratic idea that science should be the basis of political policies is echoed by communist systems, but the implementation of the policies in a Technocratic system is divorced from the masses, even if the end result would technically benefit them the most.
While these systems would have similar results (China is even said to be technocratic), they are supported by people with different priorities. From an economic perspective, energy accounting is the most left-wing form of socialism so far conceived. Communists want to empower the working class to end exploitation, but their system does not have safeguards against non-scientific policy or partisanism. We see this in the modern world where socialist countries tend to be internally confused on social issues. When the opinions of the citizens are necessary to consider and the culture is conservative, primitive ideas influence policy even despite political systems being more advanced. We see this with LGBTQ rights paradoxically becoming heated issues in societies that have achieved socialism, while paradoxically being culturally accepted in less advanced societies like America, Taiwan, United Kingdom, etc. Putting the proletariat directly in charge of society makes radical and quick progress towards fixing the economy and taking control of society back from parasitic elites, but it proves to be risky on other issues that the proletariat themselves may not be progressive on.
In America, the proletariat may have strong regional, ethnic, religious, or political divides and they may act this out if given political power. Because many are propagandized to see the US military and government as agents of world peace, they could also possibly act in the interests of western imperialism. I don’t think the proletariat should remain oppressed and exploited under the current system, but my concern is that they may genuinely not know what is best for themselves or make the correct political decisions. Especially after the mental conditioning and brainwashing the American regime has subjected society to, there needs to be a massive re-education and deprogramming from extremist ideology before the masses of this society can be trusted with political decisions. Your country may be different, but Technocracy as a system is better for governing the people who can’t govern themselves. They may despise us and curse us in the name of democracy, but future generations and rationalists will thank us for keeping the insanity and extremism out of the political system.
