Why Democracy Devolves Into Social Issues
In an electoral system that assumes capitalism as a reality, a wealthy elite will always be able to bribe their way to an economy that benefits them at the cost of everyone else. This means that the only thing left in such a society to be decided is whether or not certain discriminated minorities should have rights, or even be allowed to continue living. Some may accuse me of being hyperbolic, but Native Americans are being sterilized against their will or knowledge and people are being thrown in prison for possession of socially accepted substances, with their race being the primary factor in how the legal system handles them. When we consider the society in which this happens is one with elections and is supposed to be democratic, we have to wonder if the issue really is the system, or if there is something deeper and inherently flawed about humanity as a whole.
If the society is given an electoral system to participate in and the result is still genocide, exploitation and oppression of members of the society, we need to ask some very serious and uncomfortable questions about why. Socialists or true believers in democracy argue that people are not truly given the choices they want in democracies, but this doesn’t seem to be the true problem as a system tends to radicalize the citizens into supporting whatever the party closest to their true beliefs are. Political parties then tend to encourage ideological conformity in citizens because other ideas are deemed idealist or not within the goals of that party.
Even in the face of these injustices, people continue to vote in ways that perpetuate them. Some even go as far as denying science or taking their own personal opinions as facts when making political decisions and undermining the expertise of experts, activists, or even the voices of the people negatively affected by the policies voted on. This is why so many people then need to resort to influencing public opinion and convincing the majority of society that they are deserving of life, food, shelter, human rights, or citizenship. The opinions of radical extremists are materialized in elections, so the marginalized need to spend a disproportionate amount of time and effort in convincing extremists of their own humanity in order to achieve political change that is beneficial to their group. In the modern times this seems especially ridiculous, as Western countries have political parties comparable to the Taliban or the National Socialists in regards to how little they care for the wellbeing of their citizens or even basic morality.
I am not opposed to technocrats who want a democratic form of the system, but democracy is extremely dangerous and difficult to keep under control, especially in a society like America where there is virtually no accountability or respect for human rights. How will another MAGA movement be stopped, and should the Technate allow misinformation to become pervasive to the point it dominates political discourse and genocide is being openly encouraged at the highest levels of government? No parties involved in a democracy like this ever leave satisfied, and it gets to the point where society segregates itself because people become too mentally and culturally split that interactions with each other are comparable to interactions between complete foreigners or opposing tribes. Why would the Technate and its scientific governance need to divide the society and seek approval, when even in democracies people tend to be unhappy with the things they vote for and claim to support? I don’t think I should need to beg society for my human rights during election time, so I oppose democracy entirely.
